Mission: "To provide guide dogs and instruction in their use, free of charge, to blind and visually impaired men and women from the United States and Canada so that they may continue to pursue their goals with increased mobility and independence."

- In 1948, Joseph Jones founded the first Guide Dog School without an upper age limit.
- It costs approximately $42,000 or more to provide a guide dog. Along with food and shelter, the cost includes training the dog and providing instruction for the guide dog user.
- It costs nothing for those who need a guide a dog and GDA is not funded by the State or the Federal government. They rely solely upon voluntary contributions.
